Education: Master’s degree from CUHK School Guidance and Counselling, Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF); Mental Health First Aid Standard Course, The Mental Health Association of Hong Kong

Career Story: Heidy is a seasoned trainer with +14 years serving in higher educations, with extensive career coaching and training experience with elite undergraduate and taught post graduate students (including masters and MBA students) in the first-tier universities in Hong Kong. She spent most of her career working at the most admired first-tier universities. She is a regular career coach and has well trained over hundreds of MBA, Masters and elite undergraduate students from all around the world.

Reservation Remarks
Please check the available consultation timeslot HERE. The career consultation will be conducted virtually via zoom. Undergraduate Arts students can take a maximum of 5 consultation sessions within each academic year. Students can only make consultation bookings 2 calendar days in advance via designated forms. 

Preparation for Career Consultation 
To maximise your learning experience, you are strongly encouraged to share with us your resume, cover letter and interested job description/advertisement (if any) before the consultation.

Appointment Policy
Undergraduate Arts students may take a maximum of 5 consultation sessions within each academic year. Please DO NOT reserve more than 1 session within a week.

Cancellation / Rescheduling Policy
Your absence would be depriving other student's right to make an appointment in the timeslots. Therefore, you must cancel your requests and reschedule new appointments through Calendly booking no later than 24hrs before the consultation. Or else, it will be counted as "Late Cancellation".

Rules of Consultation
- Students can only make consultation bookings 2 calendar days via Calendly in advance.
- Students are recommended to arrive at Zoom meeting 5 minutes before the scheduled time.
- Lateness exceeding 10 minutes will be considered as late arrival and will be subjected to penalties.
- Students should TURN ON both the audio and camera during the virtual consultation.
- Students who violate the above rules may result in cancellation of consultation, or will risk to be placed in penalty list.

Penalties

Late Cancellation/ No-show
- Cancellation requests less than 24hrs prior to the consultation without accepted evidence would result in your ineligibility in making an appointment in the following 2 months.
- All conditional exemption to be considered only due to extenuating circumstances such as illness, hospitalization, accident, family bereavement or other unforeseeable serious personal or emotional circumstances, students should email heidywan@hku.hk at least 3 hours in advance before the scheduled consultation on the day, with valid supporting document(s).
- Absence without any prior notice would result in your ineligibility in making an appointment in the following 2 months.

Late Arrival
-
Lateness exceeding 10 minutes than the scheduled consultation time would be counted as "Late Arrival" and result in your ineligibility in making an appointment in the following 2 months, as a penalty.

HKUArts Tencent Recruitment Talk (Sep 27, 2025)

In close partnership with Tencent, this tailored recruitment event for HKUArts attracted 340+ student attendees on campus. Representatives from Tencent's various business and technical units shared in-depth industry insights into career opportunities across fields such as Corporate Development Group (CDG), Interactive Entertainment Group (IEG), Online Media Group (OMG), Social Network Group (SNG), Tencent Cloud, Tencent Game, Tencent Finance, Legal Services and more. Onsite CV collection enabled swift screening and interview scheduling, facilitating direct pathways to employment for participating students.

The Professional Preparation Programme (PPP) is jointly offered by the Faculty of Arts and CEDARS-Careers and Placement.

Module Description

1. Ways to make your CV, Cover Letter stand out

Writing a CV or cover letter can be daunting when you start with a blank sheet. Let's change that by working through it together and help you ace internships, scholarships and competition opportunities.

The module aims to equip students with the techniques of writing impressive CV and cover letter in order to increase their competitiveness in their job application process.

2. What you need to ace your next Interview?

"Tell me about yourself." Many people may seem to forget who they are the instant they are being asked this question. Do you want to know how to vibe with the interviewer and make you an irresistible hire? This module is for you.

This module aims to sharpen your interview skills, students will learn what to do before, during and after interviews, how to answer common interview questions, and ways to prepare for interviews.

3. Professional PowerPoint Presentation: Smart ways to capture audience attention

Just copy from your CV? Join to learn the technique to optimize it, so that you can get ahead and be discovered by the HRs and professional fasters than others!

This module will help students identify the ways to build a LinkedIn Profile and learn how to establish personal brand. They will also gain in-depth knowledge on best practices and professional networking on LinkedIn.

4. Assessment Centre: How to perform well in Group Discussion?

Group discussion has been used as an important screening tool in internships or graduate job applications. How to work well with other job candidates, your competitors, in achieving the goals?

This module is designed to enhance students’ teamwork, leadership and problem-solving skills, as well as their confidence in putting forward their arguments. It also helps expose students to the successful group discussion techniques and apply in job applications.

5. Assessment Centre: What makes an impressive Case Analysis & Presentation?

Case analysis exercise is a very popular screening tool for employers to assess candidates' different skills including analytical thinking, problem-solving. This module is designed to enhance students’ case analysis, teamwork and presentation skills. Students will learn techniques for analysing a case, and be given an opportunity to practise group discussion and presentation skills through a case study.
