The Faculty of Arts, founded in 1912, is a research-led, English-medium faculty offering undergraduate, taught postgraduate, and research postgraduate programmes. HKUArts is HKU’s most international Faculty.
It undergirds HKU’s status as a comprehensive university and its distinctive positioning as ‘Asia’s Global University.’ HKUArts nurtures cultural literacy and understanding, communication skills, empathy and inclusive mindsets, all qualities essential to personal growth, effective leadership and the betterment of society.

Our Vision
- To advance innovative, high-impact, and leading-edge research within and across the humanities and other disciplines, through a research strategy underpinning the Faculty’s distinctive brand of Asia-West scholarship and supporting its role as an international ‘forum’;
- To innovate through the integration of research in the Artsand humanities with new and emerging regimes of technical knowledge, particularly AI. Artificial intelligence presents a transformative opportunity for the humanities, reshaping not only our research methodologies but also the very questions we ask andthe way we educate future generations. As a faculty, we are committed to establishing ourselves as global leaders in integrating, researching, and teaching AI within the humanities;
