The Faculty of Arts is one of the flagship faculties of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and is an internationally renowned and leading humanities faculty.  It is ranked 1st in Asia and 18th in the world for Arts and Humanities in the U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities 2023, the only one Asian University to have made it into the top 30 this year among 250 universities worldwide.  It is also ranked 1st in Asia and Hong Kong in Arts and Humanities in the QS World University Subject Rankings 2023, and 4th in Asia and 1st in Hong Kong in Arts and Humanities in the Times Higher Education World University Subject Rankings 2024.  The QS World University Subject Rankings 2023 places the Linguistics, Modern Languages, and English Language and Literature subjects among the top 25 worldwide, with rankings of 12th, 24th, and 24th, respectively.  The Faculty of Arts’ presence amongst the best institutions in the world is evidence of its exceptional record in teaching and research.

Notes:

​1These programmes (both full-time and part-time modes of study) have been included in the Targeted Taught Postgraduate Programmes Fellowship Scheme by the University Grant Council (UGC) in the 2024/25 academic year. Successful applicants will each receive a subsidy of up to HK$120,000. Interested prospective students are required to fill in an online application form by the specified deadline. Only local students are eligible for this Fellowship. Please refer to UGC’s website or Programme’s website for more information about the scheme.
