“Hong Kong as Method” Public Seminar with Leo Ou-fan Lee and Chan Koonchung

The international conference “Hong Kong As Method” will open with a public seminar featuring novelist Mr Chan Koonchung, scholar Professor Leo Ou-fan Lee, and chaired by Professor Anthony Fung on Sunday, December 7, 2014. Details are as follows:

The conference itself provides an arena for scholars from different disciplines to address the reconfiguration of Hong Kong culture and society in the age of global modernity. It will be held over two days, December 8 and 9, in Room 436 of Run Run Shaw Tower, on the Centennial Campus. Keynote speakers include Professors Meaghan Morris, Ackbar Abbas and Stephen Chan. Topics covered during the 7 panel discussions include the legal subject, multiple identities, gender/queer politics, filmic imaginaries, modernity, social discourses and alternative citizenships. The conference is co-organised by the Department of Comparative Literature, the Hong Kong Studies Programme, and the Center for the Study of Globalization and Cultures. It is sponsored by the China-West Strategic Research Theme and the Louis Cha Fund in the Faculty of Arts, as well as the Emerging Strategic Research Theme (Law, Literature, Language).
