HKU Faculty of Arts’ “Behind the Scenes Lecture Series” aims to bring high-profile speakers from the international art world such as artists, curators, art historians, directors of galleries or museums, auction house principals, conservators, to highlight the work of professionals who help to keep art accessible for audiences now and in the future, and to expand awareness of and appreciation for art.
Our past speakers include Larry Keith, Keeper of Conservation from the National Gallery, London and Marie-Louise Sauerberg of Westminster Abbey. It provides a platform to make art more accessible to the community, nurture local young artists and promote cross-cultural dialogue through monthly art outreach events, quarterly art exhibitions at UOB Art Space uniquely @ REGAL and annual art competitions. |

Established in 1988, the University of Hong Kong Museum Society (HKUMS) is a charitable institution to support University of Hong Kong Museum and Art Gallery (UMAG). HKUMS now comprises of 680 members and has developed into a vital force in promoting art and culture within the community. HKUMS is governed by an Executive Committee comprise of volunteer members. The Committee organizes a variety of regular activities related to art and culture, including lectures and seminars, museum and gallery tours, visits to private collections and artists' studios, heritage walks and overseas trips. Proceeds generated from the Society's activities are donated to the UMAG for the acquisition of selective artworks, the sponsorship of special exhibitions and notable programs, as well as to The University of Hong Kong and the local community for the support of educational initiatives. |
