"Images of Our City: Landmarks and Coastlines of Central" Photo Exhibition and Forum

The "Images of Our City: Landmarks and Coastlines of Central" Photo Exhibition will introduce the history of reclamation projects in Central. Featuring photos and postcards of places such as Queen's Road and Des Voeux Road in the late 19th century, Connaught Road in the early 20th century and Edinburgh Place in the 1950s, the exhibition will show changes to Central's coastline and landmarks across time.

A forum will be held in conjunction with the exhibition. Mr Jacky Yu, webmaster of Old Hong Kong Photo, and Dr Patrick Mok, former manager of the Hong Kong Memory Project, will discuss how online platforms support historic preservation.

You are cordially invited to join the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

The exhibition is organized by Old Hong Kong Photo (http://www.oldhkphoto.com) and co-organized by the Faculty of Arts and Hong Kong Global Network (http://hkgn.net).

Comments from the public:

"I've always wanted to learn more about the old Hong Kong and I love how the organizer try to do such an amazing job of collecting all these old pictures. I'm looking forward to seeing more of other districts!"

"It 's interesting to learn a bit a bout HK history. I didn't know HK carried a lot of reclamation projects. The oldest one dates to the late 1900s. And it's interesting to know where I stand used to be part of the ocean."

"I'm a year 3 HKU BA students and I love this exhibition very much. The old geographical scenery is so fascinating. I appreciate the work of you all. Making a good use of the internet and modern technology is the key to revive our history, esp. in the era of identity movement. Thanks and keep up!"

"Thank you very much for arranging such historical exhibition to let us know about how HK is developed all the way through!"

"Thank you so much for all the efforts to make this happen; all our memories can be recalled. Many thanks again."
