An International Conference

Arts Academic Conference Room,
Room 436, 4/F, Run Run Shaw Tower,
Centennial Campus, HKU
In recent years, there has been a steady increase in the number of scholars writing about Chinese masculinity. Chinese gender relations and notions of masculinity and femininity have undergone very fundamental changes in the modern era. In the last couple of decades in particular, Asian influences as well as Western influences have been highly visible. This three-day conference, as its title suggests, will look at how Chinese masculinity has fared across space and time. We have invited some of the best and most influential scholars in this field and the conference should appeal to all who are interested in Chinese history, literature, cinema and gender studies.
