Professor K. H. Louie
Dean
Before joining HKU, Professor Kam Louie was Chair Professor of Chinese Studies at Queensland University and Australian National University. He has also taught at Nanjing, Murdoch and Auckland Universities. He is a Fellow of the Australian Humanities Academy and he has over 10 books under his name. He was chief editor of Asian Studies Review for 9 years as well as editorial board member of several scholarly journals.

Professor C.M. Hutton
Associate Dean
Professor Hutton oversees postgraduate programmes (PDip, MA, MPhil and PhD) and assists the Dean on research matters in the Faculty. He chairs the Higher Arts Degrees Committee and Boards of Examiners for Higher Degrees. His own research is on political issues in language and linguistics.

Professor C.M. Hutton

Dr. Agnes S. L. Lam
Associate Dean
Dr. Agnes S. L. Lam specializes in language education in China and Asian poetry in English and is also known internationally as a poet. She oversees undergraduate student matters and chairs the Board of Examiners, the Faculty Review Committee and the Joint Consultative Committee.

Dr. Y. Nakano
Associate Dean
Dr. Nakano is responsible for coordinating outreach and development. One of her main goals is the promotion of diverse learning opportunities for students both on and off campus. Her research and teaching interests include media, intercultural communication, and the globalization of popular culture.

Associate Dean
Dr. Pomfret is responsible for curriculum development. His research and teaching interests include the history of childhood and youth, the history of cities and the modern history of Britain and France.

Dr. C. M. Si
Associate Dean
Dr. Si's research interests include Chinese phonology, Chinese culture and teaching Chinese as a foreign language. He has published over 8 scholarly books in Hong Kong, Beijing, Guangzhou, Taiwan and Japan. He is mainly responsible for matters related to undergraduate admissions.
