One Belt One Road and a Prosperous Africa (OBORPA)

30 November 2016

The School of Modern Languages and Culture held the seminar One Belt One Road and a Prosperous Africa (OBORPA) on 30 November 2016 (Wednesday) in CRT-4.36, Run Run Shaw Tower, Centennial Campus. China formulated the One Belt, One Road (OBOR) framework to promote economic development by integrating a number of countries in Asia, Africa and Europe through two main components, the land-based "Silk Road Economic Belt" (SREB) and oceangoing "Maritime Silk Road" (MSR) to which the Indian Ocean and the South China Seas are central. The Seminar focused on opening a dialogue on how greater synergy can be achieved between the Africa’s Agenda 2063 and the OBOR initiative, as well as Hong Kong’s role as a platform for the financing of infrastructure projects and its related financial services.
